Our Fairy Village: A work in progress
I've had an itch to create a Fairy Village for a few years now. And my timing couldn't have been more perfect. While Ava got to have a blast at her best friend Wynne's birthday party, Annika and I got busy and PAINTED and PAINTED and PAINTED fairy houses.
Okay, so they're actually little wooden birdhouses I bought at Michael's but
they're Fairy Houses to us!
I love Annika's creative spirit- I just let her do her own thing....
Here are the finished Fairy Houses
(I can't decide if I should cut the hangers off or not)....
I only painted the little house with blue roof and scalloped edges, the toadstool house and the one with the rainbow roof. The rest were done by talented Annika.

Here's the Toadstool Cottage. Complete with flower-filled window boxes!
Annika's cute yellow, pink and purple cottage.
Now here's where you need to help me.... what's missing? I feel that the Fairy Village isn't complete.
I've found some wooden logs to use (not exactly sure what to do with them). I'm planning on making some clay toadstool mushrooms and snails. I was also thinking of making tiny signs for each cottage (so that we'll know which Fairy lives in which cottage). I'd like to make a tree of some sort but not sure how to go about doing that.
Any suggestions?
(Hooray! This is my 500th post! )
ETA- We've made some modifications on Our Fairy Village! Come check it out! It's still not quite finished...we love working on it and changing it. :-)

It's all so whimsical and pretty! Your girls are so lucky to have a creative mommy like you (and a lot of paint on hand):) I think your ideas of adding cottage signs will be fantastic. Good luck - and I'm sure you'll come up with a tree idea soon. (Can't think of anything off the top of my head to help you - sorry!)
Great idea! Do you have fairies for the village? What about a little wishing well for the fairy village?
No fairies yet....I'm torn on how to create fairies. A wishing well! That's a great idea! I'm off to try and make some signs and figure out how to make a wishing well.
Should I cut the string off the houses?
Such fun!
Pop over to my post today to see my trolls and their front door in a tree! xx
Love your village and all the painting you've done. Perhaps some more natural additions....small tree stumps, rocks?? I would love it if you would link this project up to my blog party, A Marvelous Mess....each week I pick one project to feature on my side bar!! Here is the link: http://tinyurl.com/3chfp5t
I agree about the tree stump! I'm working on creating one (I've got tons of wood available to me so I should be able to find something that works).
Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep 'em coming!
Astrid, that is so cool! Charlotte would LOVE to do something like this. So cute! Thanks for sharing at For the Kids Friday! I've featured you this week! Hope to have you back to link up this week!
