Egg Carton Birds
My mom and I love to do arts & crafts projects. So, last October when she came to visit we were trying to come up with a simple Halloween craft project my four-year old could enjoy doing too. We wanted to make spiders or pumpkins out of egg cartons but they didn't turn out...and since I had soo many egg cartons I came up with these...

This year I have them hanging on branches I've hung from my ceiling and on my Halloween tree on my buffet.
A feathered friend...this one some how got away without any paint!

These are on the branch hanging from the ceiling in the girls' play area.
We really liked making them and I hope you'll try making some. Please show me a photo of your bird creations! I bet ones that are super simple- like just black and white could look elegant in the right setting.
These also would be fun to make for Easter with spring-y colors!
BIRDS! and a few more birds!
October 2007We painted these birds at the end of November, 2007. I first cut out the egg cartons (fyi -not all of them looked like bird faces). We painted the back of the bird's head (I painted mine brown to keep it simple). We had lots of fun painting the eyes and beaks of our birds! We used acrylic paints and it got a LITTLE MESSY! After the paint dried I glued some eyes inside the eyeballs and Annika got to glue feathers on some of the birds. We strung them up using a needle and thread.

These birds really made me smile! I've been wanting some different projects to do with my boys and this would be perfect! I have enjoyed browsing through your blog so much and I've already found some great ideas and resources!
Thanks also for visiting us! Have a great week!
Very clever...I want some too! :)
Thanks for the comment...love the projects you have done for fall. Your family is young, enjoy all these moments and believe me "someday" comes much faster than you think! I have two girls and we too were lopsided for almost 6 years and then had our son...next year both of my girls will be gone to college and I will be left with two males!
those are great! i was just looking for a egg carton craft (i've been saving them, but couldn't find anything we hadn't done before), and we love birds around here! we'll definitely do this!
What a wonderful idea! I love craft projects for kids that use household waste... especially egg cartons.
And I LOVE your branches! I think spouse and I will have a talk about gathering some branches...
What a great idea!
I am going to do this with my kiddos (all ages). I like how you hung them on branches...a great touch.
