Fast Fall Festoon (or something like that)

Here's a super fast & easy & fun fall project....

Decorating with WAXED LEAVES!
I used poster putty on the backs of my waxed leaves and stuck them around my kitchen. This project may seem a little cheesy but any project I can get done in a few minutes is great in my book!

Dressing up a very plain ol' dishwasher front. It definitely needs it.

I'm not sure how long these decorations will last but at least it cheers up the kitchen a bit. And it was cheap! (cost of paraffin and disposable tray was maybe $4)
Here's my version of a double boiler. I used a disposable pan on top of my pot of boiling water. I used paraffin wax (find it in the canning supplies section of our grocery store). I carefully dipped the leaves in the wax (both sides) and placed them on some parchment paper to dry. I didn't let my girls do this- I didn't want any burnt little fingers. Ah yes, and you can see my batch of newly made soap in the background. I hope to some day soon have a cold process soap making tutorial up. It smells lovely!

Go check out other DIY projects at A Soft Place to Land. I've found lots of inspirational projects there!

I think the wax leaves look really neat! I love Fall anyway...so that makes a nice feel for the house!
Is it weird that I can still smell the soap???

Lovely and cheap decorating...my favorite! How long do they keep their color I wonder?

I have a bag of leaves that we just picked up today and some parafin! We'll have to try this.

The leaves reminds me of all the wonderful art projects we did when we were little! What a "welcome to autumn" idea!

What a clever way to bring autumn inside!

Just stopped by from SITS to say hi; hope you'll do the same.

Thanks! I keep seeing recipes that call for a double boiler and I didn't want to go out and buy something just for one or two things I make. I'm going to try that.

What a neat idea! I'm with you on loving the simple projects, as I have a 13 month old who takes very short naps!

The leaves add a nice touch of fall to the kitchen. It's nice to keep the leaves around as long as possible....all the leaves are gone from the trees and it's looking pretty barren.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
