The Elusive Hummingbirds
I finally got a photo of just one of the many hummingbirds that are in my flower garden! My garden really does hum with the sound of them (along with the crickets, frogs, bees and butterflies).
I fill this window feeder nearly every day but it's worth it just to watch the hummingbirds!
I'm not sure what these hummingbirds are called. We have some ruby-throated hummingbirds but I'm not sure if the ones with out the red are a different species or the females of the ruby-throated species. Does anyone know?
Yesterday I saw a hummingbird try to get nectar out of a geranium flower bud- it was trying to pry it open!
Time to go refill the feeder...I just filled it this morning!

I recently learned that hummingbirds will steal insects out of spiderwebs and steal bits of the web itself to make their nests. Do the hummingbirds stare at you through the windows when the feeder is empty?
..is this the look out of your library? It certainly looks nice and inviting (especially to hummingbirds)
The hummingbirds do fly by my windows letting me know that the feeders are empty!
Yes, this photo is taken from the library. I moved the computer from the basement to the library so now I'm in my favorite room all the time!
