Birthday Pupcakes!
For her birthday Annika picked out several doggy decorated cupcakes from the "Hello, Cupcake" book.
I spent Monday night tearing out my hair searching for the cupcake decorating ingredients at the grocery store. Argh! The book lists all of the things you need to make their cute cupcakes and for the most part they've been easy to find. Except for these! Improvise, improvise, improvise!
Annika actually had three kinds of dogs picked out from the book but after some trial and lots of error (yummy mistakes!) we decided on doing only one kind of doggy cupcake- The Chocolate Lab!
I decorated several of the cupcakes but both girls were begging to try their hand at decorating them....
How can you resist chocolate frosting and various candies? (not me)
Yum!
I must say they did a fantastic job!
I'm so glad the girls enjoyed decorating the cupcakes... and truthfully, I think this activity is a fantastic summer boredom buster! All you need is some cooled-off cupcakes, frosting, and various candies. Oh, and a functional laundry machine!!!! Give it a try!
I think all of Annika's dogs had green eyes (M&M's) because green is her favorite color.
The tongue is made from a flatten Starburst candy, the ears are made of flattened Tootsie Rolls, the nose is a Junior Mint, and the muzzle is part of a marshmallow. With a thick slathering of chocolate frosting!
Definitely a fun birthday activity!
Annika's green-eyed dogs:
Some dogs and a few extra creations. I think Ava called one of them a Snowman...not sure about the others.

Thank you so much for the lovely birthday parcel, Oma!
