On Our Way to South Point and beyond...

One of the first requests the adults in our traveling party...
COFFEE!!!!

And not just any coffee...it had to be Kona grown!

So we made a lovely detour and stopped at Kona Joe for bags of coffee beans and espresso drinks.
Wouldn't it be a bummer to have to work in a place that looked like this?

Kona Joe's did offer tours of their coffee plantation but at $15 per person we declined.  One thing we learned on this trip...just because you grow excellent coffee doesn't always translate knowing how to make an excellent espresso drink.  hmpf.

Here's an example of Kona Joe's trellis grown coffee plant.

The kids had a blast running around the lovely grounds of the coffee plantation.
Driving south on a bumpy road that leads to another bumpy road....

And you end up here....at the southern most part of the USA.
with scary high cliffs....just enough to make sure you've got a good grip on any and all children.

walk down to beach...

to enjoy a pb&j picnic lunch

and make a "card" for Auntie Margaret.
Hope you had an awesome birthday, Auntie Margaret!  Wish you could have been with us!

Smiling, happy family! At the South Point- the southern most point in the USA.

Getting ready to stick our feet in the water...oh sooooooo nice and refreshing!

which produced lots of loud giggles of joy from the little people (and the big people too!)

wait for it.....

ahhhhh....waves swirling around our feet and legs.
Now on the road to a black sand beach and then off to see a volcano!
Stay tuned!

FYI- more photo heavy posts to come.  There are just too many photos!  LOL!
