Hawaii
Tuesday morning found us at
What can I say about Hapuna? That's absolutely perfect. One of the top three beaches (in my humble opinion anyway). Absolutely gorgeous!
Boogie boarding was definitely a blast for old and young alike. It was harder than it looks (riding the wave all the way to shore...at least for us grown-ups). I think I rode in on maybe three waves. The kids were able to ride in on nearly every wave (easy to do when you don't weigh much!).
That's Annika riding the wave:
And awesome for playing in the sand. The kids made elaborate sand pits/castles at every beach we visited...
and digging and digging and digging....maybe digging to China?
Sadly, Annika came down with a fever and got sick on Tuesday morning. I'll admit that her illness caught me off guard. Our little family almost never gets sick. Oh well. We tried to take it easy but we didn't let it put a damper on our trip...we still went to the beach. By the end of the day, Annika was having a blast and riding the waves on a boogie board.
It's Wednesday...and we learned that meant cruise ships stopped off the port in Kona (and the town being flooded by tourists from the cruise ship.) I think this was the biggest cruise ship I've ever seen. I'm sure our entire town and our neighboring town could fit onto this boat with room to spare.

We ate a lovely, fresh catch-of-the-day meal at Bubba Gump. Can you guess which movie the restaurant is named after?

We visited the farmer's market in Kona. I'm disappointed that I didn't take a photo of the market and all the fruit available...apple bananas (OMG! They're the BEST bananas EVER!), mangoes, pineapples (from Maui), tangerines, lychees, tomatoes, avocados, papayas and lots more. We feasted on fresh fruit every day. We bought the girls these beautiful plumeria leis a lady was making near the market. Plumeria blossoms are very fragrant (and were even more so that evening).
After a long day of walking around Ali'i Drive (and window shopping) we ate dinner at a place called Island Lava Java. They make the best pull apart cinnamon rolls we've ever had. And their fish tacos were the best.

A gecko. One of many we saw on the island.

Now there's one tired little girl. :) Great shots - the kids love looking at this with me. The beach looks gorgeous, and the gecko what fun! Thank you for sharing!
Great pictures!
