Alaska Trip: Day at the Alaska Zoo

Something we've missed being away from Anchorage:
Marie's Sunday Morning Breakfast. When we lived in Anchorage we frequently went up to Marie's lovely house and she made us a beautiful breakfast (my favorite: CREPES!). Thank you Marie!!!

Marie and her family are old family friends...growing up we used to do many things together- like going to the zoo, going skiing, ballet lessons...and I can't think of what else.

After breakfast we all headed to the Alaska Zoo. My oh, my has that place changed since I was a child!

Musk Ox. I've actually gotten to see these out in the wild tundra wayyyyyyy up north...that was practically a lifetime ago!

Hilke's youngest daughter: Pomai. Isn't she too cute for words?
Me, Marie and Hilke with Pomai.

Kurt (Marie's son) was wonderful at amusing the young girls. Apparently putting tiny rocks on his hand was a great game. Who knew?
We were observing the wolves for some time and they were ignoring us....UNTIL Pomai let out a shriek. Then this wolf headed straight for us!

Can I have some crepes too? Sounds yummy! I would love to see that zoo again some time with the little Mearsies.
