some fall decorations...
I've been slowly working towards decorating for fall/halloween. It's a slow going process at best! I'm eating a piece of zucchini pie as I'm typing this post- ever had some? It's a mock-apple pie! Dang...that reminds me that I have a bushel of apples that need to be processed NOW.
I'm sorry this photo is terrible- I hate taking photos with flash and this was the best I could manage without it. I found the lamp base at a thrift store for $3.75...the lamp shade cost more than twice that! I wonder if I should take a photo of my POOPIE fall arrangement...I had originally planned to hang it on the front door (don't ask me how...I hadn't gotten that far!) BUT I decided I liked it on the buffet. It has real pheasant feathers and a bird's nest in it (and don't ask how I got the pheasant feathers).I think this is a cheap rip-off from Pottery Barn (I think?). The plates were 35cents at a thrift store. I used my Cricut machine, some black paper I already had and glue to make these plates. The letters aren't permanently glued down so I can change it out. I think I'd like to add a couple more barn stars in different colors- maybe black or dark orange or patina to this wall arrangement. My hope is to keep it more or less the same but swap out the plates. Whatcha think?
My lovely mom sent me these leaf doilies. I just hung them up on my lights. Yes, I do know that I have a lightbulb that needs replacing. Thanks for reminding me to change it!
So...that's it so far. I've got lots of Halloween things to put up but I am low on energy right now. AND I've got alllllll those apples to process.
Tell me what you think! Have you started decorating for Halloween yet?

We don't celebrate Halloween, but we do love fall and are beginning to put up some pretties to celebrate the season!
I found you through your comment on Nesting place - I have a tassel tutorial on my blog BeTasseled - I warn you though - making them is truly addictive! Too much fun!
I don't usually let this be known, but we love the name Annika - our Dreamer turns 11 tomorrow and her name is Annika Autumn Joy! Annika means 'grace' or 'God is gracious' - which is just how we felt when we adopted our sweet girl!
I've enjoy peeking through a few of your posts! Stop by for a visit if you like!
the tutorial is at www.betasseled.blogspot.com
Thanks for your sweet comment.
I don't usually have problems with furniture getting sticky when I spraypaint. I usually only paint the fronts of drawers so there isn't a problem with the sides sticking. Then I let it dry for a long time before I put the drawers back in. It can take at least a week for the paint to cure completely.
I love your decoration. I think the buffet look great.
I also love the Boo plates.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, you asked," What kind of paint I used ?" I use acrylic. I like it because it dries quickly.
Astrid your house always looks so lovingly decorated. I hope that one day I can manage such sprucings-up. :)
